Serving in a very Taxing Time

Posted by servinginlove on March 29, 2008

church-out.gifThis April 15th will  mark our 4th year at the Post Office passing out free stamps to last minute taxpayers.
The event requires 2 stamps (State and Federal) per person and in the past, our supplies have lasted only about one hour. But what a time it is!! There are sometimes lines of people waiting get those taxes dsc03934.jpgmailed, so this outreach also serves by reducing the wait.

Of course, we couldn’t begin to afford to buy the stamps to give away. But that has always been provided. We have been blessed in that hundreds of stamps have been given to SIL for this event.  If you can’t be with us, you can drop off stamps or cash at MSC or email us to pick up your donation.

We love doing this outreach and we love the way it impacts people.  Most of all we have a great time showing people God’s love in a very practical way.  We even noticed people leaving (after mailing their taxes) the Post Office smiling. Go figure!forever05.gif

We have always found great truth in the saying, “Small things done with great love will change the world.”

Here’s your chance to change the world.

Real Time Proof – - James 5:16b

Posted by servinginlove on March 25, 2008

DarroughWe have been asking for months that you attend meetings and pray that Darrough Chapel Elementary School (DES) would survive the downsizing and closings planned by the school board and Kokomo-Center Township (KCT) administration.  Every single plan proposed by the consultant, blue ribbon committee and KCT to this point included the closure of DES.

You heard us.  We wondered last week if this was the last time we would seBookse the DES kids at Faith-Fest and it was a little melancholy for us as they made their way through the art and met the artists, but as we always have said, “It’s not about us.”  You heard us and you prayed.  And that’s a praise to a higher authority and a better plan.

Although we do not yet know the final plan, in the only two options still being considered, DES not only will still function as an elementary school, it will GROW.

We are filled with joy for the prospect and reminded of what our parents and grandparents (and even a few teachers) have reminded us, “Be mindful of what you pray for, you just might get it.”   We do now have a new set of needs as DES expands to take in children from the consolidations and closures.

Faith Fest 2008 – God’s Gift of Art

Posted by servinginlove on March 12, 2008

readingnanasbible.jpgWhat a time this will be!!!  It’s a largest and best festival ever.  Mary Beatty has a complete Gallery (several works) and she is bringing a new piece called “Reading Nana’s Bible”.  Over 500 children will be at the Thursday events, and each will get a special present and a chance to leave their own creations for parents and families to see on Good Friday.  Unfortunately, we had to turn down some requests for class visits on Thursday (there are only so  many hours in the day), but the kids from Darrough will all get to come.  Small groups from Day Care and several Christian catherine2.JPGschools are coming as well.  It begins at 9 am.

On Friday, we welcome Seniors and our Darrough neighbors.  Catherine Trout will play harp as visitors stroll around the church and see hundreds of pieces of sculpture, paintings, carvings, photography …… dozens of mediums and hundreds of pieces.

Friday evening (5-7:30 pm) We have live music featuring Catherine Trout with a Harp solo and two quartets singing all of your favorites!!  Bring the family.

Sunday we have 2 services in the “Connection” with a breakfast (sandwiched) in between.  Click here for a Program

It’s the event you have been saying you wish we still had around…..it’s FREE and it’s waiting for you at MSC.  See you there!!!!!
