Gas Blast – February 23, 2008

Posted by servinginlove on February 24, 2008

Traffic backed up to get to the pumps…….

gb1.jpgbg2.jpgFrom 5 pm until just after 6 pm, we gave away 1000 gallons of gas (at a $.50 cent discount).  What a blast!!

Hundreds of people were served.  gb3.jpgWe not only reduced the gas price, we pumped it for the customers and did windshields as well.

See you next time.

Here are some of the SIL Team Members preparing to serve others………….

Recruiting “Virtual Listeners”

Posted by servinginlove on February 1, 2008

UPDATE (2/4/2008):  You should have an email from us confirming that you will be enrolled in the training.  It will be at one of the area churches (thank you for volunteering the space, several did) on a weekday evening.  Look for the notices in Mid-February.  Thank you for your willingness to serve.

Friends, Kokomoans, Countryfolks, lend us your ears…….

image016.jpgWe are trying to recruit and train mature believers to join our outreaches as “Virtual Listeners”.   Our Community Page describes these people in this context,

At its essence, community building is the result of laying cornerstones consisting of three interacting activities: personal dialogs to discover what people care about, meaningful action upon what people care about, and the nurturing of community when neighborhoods care enough to act together. These three foundation blocks are different manifestations of the same central certainty, the living heart of every community and a path to social and spiritual vitality.  When believers intentionally build relationships inside the faith based family and outside in the surrounding community, a new energy for life together is discovered.

LIFE HAPPENS – WE ARE BELIEVERS LEARNING OUR WAY INTO LIFE

We are intimately involved in the Darrough Chapel neighborhood and the Kokomo metropolitan area because we have found that when faith based congregations with their neighbors commit to learning together as a community, a new orientation to experience develops moving from “deciding” what to do towards “discovering” what to do. Where is life calling us? What is the future that wants to emerge among us?  How do we recognize and encourage our creativity and insight as we develop action? A learning faith based community lives as though the gospel is true now.  Right now.”

It starts with listening and then connecting.  We are asking the MSC family then faith-based community to help.  If you have a heart to hear and act, contact us and we’ll help you meet people who you can connect with a better life.  We can’t recruit enough people to do the job…but we will keep asking.  The links are on the page….call or email right now.  Don’t  wait, – Right now.
